Day 3 brings us Buildings!
Managed to get buildings working, they don’t do too much yet, but let’s get some screenshots!
Look at those beautiful rounded radio buttons, turns out the library I was using hasn’t gotten around to adding them in yet, which is fine, because I could code them in myself 🎉.
So you can see the basic canonical class buildings of rogue, fighter, cleric and mage are present and spawn a Peep of the appropriate class when you activate them.
Not that classes mean much at the moment, I should spend tomorrow focusing on getting some content in and doing some initial rounds of testing stuff actually runs. I’ve been making builds daily, but not actually validated that they run on the appropriate OS’s, if anyone wants to give them a go, please do! Let me know if you hit any bugs =)…
You can also see at the top we’ve got a nice bar now which has some info in it, which is the Status Bar. The big Reset button that was there has been renamed to Restart and shoved to the right.
So we now have three main pieces of information, we’ll go over them as they become relevant =)…
Highlighting a building show’s a nice message that tells you that you can Activate the building using an Agent.
Looking at the Status Bar on the top, you can see how many Agents you have in your pool, you get two and can use them to activate buildings.
So we’ve pressed the big “Act” button, we’re down an Agent in our pool, we have a new Peep.
Activating another building exhausts our pool of Agents, so selecting another building doesn’t let you “Act” any more.
The game also reminds you that you can go on a Quest!
After selecting two of our Peeps to go on a Quest, where they unfortunately lost their lives, we can see in the Status Bar, that we’re on Day 2 and our pool of Agents is back to two.
Alright, we’ve got a nice basic gameplay loop.
It’s not super exciting yet, but it’s getting there =)…
